About the Design:
The 'Ianthe' Liberty fabric featured in this piece was originally designed in 1902 by French artist René Beauclair. It has since gone on to become one of the most celebrated Art Nouveau designs housed at Liberty London.
Our artist, Sarah Field, has then gone on to use colours and elements from the 'Ianthe' design to create a unique artwork on the surface of the shell. Using acrylic and gouache paint, Sarah has painted in intricate and tiny detail, the entire surface of the shell. This artwork is then carefully mounted on the fabric, and framed with a custom mat.
